ACS VISITED MY HOME, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

A favored practice of ACS is to make a surprise visit to the home at different hours. There are very specific things you must do. If ACS comes to your door, do NOT open it. Even if the ACS worker is accompanied by a police officer, the Constitution of the United States and New York, do not allow the police to enter your home without a warrant signed by a judge. Unless you are given a signed warrant by a judge, do not let them in.

Advise them that you do not want to make any statements and you will be having your attorney contact them. Expect to be threatened by the ACS worker and the police officers. Stand your ground. Without a judge's signed order, they are counting on you to give up your rights and submit to their authority.
